Make Room for Jesus
(Luke 2:1-7)
(Luke 2:1-7)
1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed [a]wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Are we making room for Jesus to be here (in our lives) during the holiday season and in our planning? How do I make room for Jesus?
Having a determination to act a certain way.
We shouldn’t allow Jesus to be on the outside, looking in (Rev 3:20).
Intentionally, daily, make room for Him.
Having an itemized list of my life.
Taking inventory involves asking these questions:
(i) Right now, is there room for Jesus in my life?
(ii) What adjustments do I need to make in my life?
(iii) What do I need to subtract from my life? Allow the Lord to search us (Ps 139:23).
Jesus is Lord.
When we invite Him in as Lord of our lives, we are asking him to rule our lives. This is to be at a place of surrender (1 Thess 5: 23).
To engage as a participant
We need to involve Jesus in every aspect of our lives.
We need to give our time, talents, treasure, and tongue for God’s glory.
