I Trust God
(Proverbs 3:5-6)
(Proverbs 3:5-6)
God is a trustworthy God. You and I must daily make the decision to trust God.
Trust means to
“Trust in yourself and you are doomed to disappointment.
Trust in your friends and they will die and leave you.
Trust in money and you may have it taken from you.
Trust in your reputation and some slanderous tongue may blast it.
Trust in God and you are never to be confounded in time or eternity.” – D.L. Moody
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Oftentimes we have misplaced trust. As a result, we are disappointed because we place expectations on people and things that change. Some trust in chariots, some trust in horses, but we will trust in God.
“With all of your help” implies that trusting is a heart issue. This is why the scripture urges us to guard our hearts (Proverbs 4:23) because that’s our trusting mechanism. We also must recognize the schemes of the enemy that encourage us to have trust issues with people and ultimately the Lord.
Although you’ve been trained, educated and certified, don’t lean on it.
“Don’t support yourself…with you” – Pastor Bill
Acknowledge means to hear and come into agreement with Him.
Before I start doing, I need to recognize what God is doing. In other words, I’m not going to move unless I know what God is doing.
One translation says that “He will make your path straight.” Meaning, He will jerk the slack out of your path and remove the obstacles.
God cares and is concerned with the details of your life.
“If I am in it, I have the grace for it.” – Pastor Bill
Make sure you are quiet enough on the inside to hear Him. Don’t violate His guidance.
If I’m going to trust God, I must know what God’s will is in this situation. Not only do you need to know what God wants to do, you also need to know how.
“He will make me to know.” – Pam Taylor
God’s will is not just to be known but to be surrendered to. There are often times many ways to accomplish a task, but our responsibility is to do it God’s way.
Take for example getting across a body of water
Don’t worry about anything, pray about everything. In your praying make sure you ask for the specific thing and not just the means to get the thing.
