The ABCs of a Surrendered Life
(Luke 22:39-42)
(Luke 22:39-42)
39 Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. 40 When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” 41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
Right now, everything about our world is different. God seems to have pressed the pause button and instead of us trying to manipulate everything we need to just surrender.
Jesus prayed that the cup be taken from Him, but he ultimately wanted God’s will to be done. This is the picture of a surrendered life.
Prayer is not simply getting God to do what we want him to do. Prayer is getting into God’s will.
“Living a surrendered life is not difficult but it is necessary.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
What is a surrendered life? A surrendered life is a life that is yielded to the plan, the purpose, and the will of God on a daily basis.
We need to check in daily with God to find out His plan, His purpose and His will for us today.
We do have a real situation going on and we need to keep up with information in order to keep our families and those around us safe. However, we must be careful to not surrender to the will of the newscasts and do surrender to the will of God.
“God wants to change us during this time. We shouldn’t be the same after this.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
“There is something that happens on the inside when you know you have surrendered your heart and your will and your passions to the Lordship of Christ.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
“Nothing that I have a desire for is ever going to cost me my entire life.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
We cannot do this in our own strength. We need God now!
“If the word tells me that I can trust Him with all of my heart, then I can.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
“Could there be something else that He is doing during this time and I’ve got to believe.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
We must trust God and believe the true and living God.
Let God remake you during this time. Look at different ways to do things; different ways to prioritize your life.
