The Body of Christ

The majority of Christians do not have the right perception of the body of Christ. It is not putting your name on a file, being connected to a tradition, or being a regular churchgoer. We put in our control what we think we can do with the body. The body is being part of Jesus. The body is universal, and it cannot be limited to any one church denomination.

Romans 12:4-5 “4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.” (NLT)

Matthew 16:17-18 “17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John,[a] because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. 18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’),[b] and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell[c] will not conquer it” (NLT).

The name Peter means a little stone or rock. Christ is the rock. When we come into Christ, we are little stones. We are not the rock. Being a part of God’s body tells us where to go and what to do.

1 Corinthians 10:4 “4 and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.” (NLT)

We get our resources from Christ when we speak to the rock (God). When there is a breach in the body of Christ, the whole body hurts. When the body is out of sync there is going to be a mess. When you carry around envy, strife, unforgiveness, and offense, you are not functioning in the body. When there is a void of right leadership in the house, those under their leadership are awkward. Leaders and supporters need to be in place. Know where you belong.

We need to be in place. We need to know where we belong. After transformation, we will be right filled with the spirit of God. We need to stop pitying ourselves of why we can’t get involved. We are under God’s authority and control.
