Stop Doubting and Believe (John 20:19-22, 24-29)
In a world filled with skepticism, we must fight against the things that erode our ability to believe. We were born to believe. To believe simply means to consider something to be true or worthy of one’s trust.
“I don’t just believe in God, I believe God.” – Apostle Billy Johnson
In order to stop doubting and believe we must:
We have to stop putting conditions on whether or not we will believe. God is worthy of our trust. The existence of conditions for our trust and belief is a sign of unbelief.
“Some of us are trying to believe from the wrong place: …with the heart man believes, not the head.” – Apostle Billy Johnson
Correction is a sign of love. Our first responsibility is to put ourselves in a position to receive correction. We secondly must make the correction.
A Belief Indicator
One indicator of your belief is the words you say. The bible says, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34) If we take an inventory of your words over the past 30 days, what will be the result? Will our words demonstrate that we are Christians?
Stop giving yourself permission to doubt.
“Some of us have advanced degrees in doubt.” – Apostle Billy Johnson
Jesus commended those who had not seen and believed.
Blessed means fortunate; to be envied. In other words, circumstances are lining up with the blessed life.
“Faith keeps looking until it sees what it was told.” – Apostle Billy Johnson
We are born to believe, but we have to believe to be born [again].
What do we have to believe?
That Jesus is the Son of God.
Why do I have to believe that?
So that you may have eternal life.
If you are going to believe, make sure your believing is in line with what the Word of God says.
The question today is, “Do you believe?”
