Divine Alignment: Align Your Aspirations
(Colossians 3:1-4 (NKJV)
(Colossians 3:1-4 (NKJV)
God is aligning our lives. To align means the proper positioning of parts. A divine alignment is happening where God is adjusting the components (relationships, priorities, etc.) of our lives to match His original specifications. We need this divine alignment because too many of us have fallen prey to spiritual apathy where spiritual things don’t matter as much. The alignment must take place because there is an urgency in what God wants to do. But we may be too out of alignment to receive the glory He wants to bring to our lives.
“We’ve filled our lives with substitutes and wondering why we are wearing out.” – Pastor Billy R. Johnson
God is aligning us in four areas: our aspirations, our attention, our actions, and our attitudes.
.
Paul says since we have been raised together (synergy) with Christ, we need to set our aspirations on the things that matter to God. Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things will be added to you.” We are to seek God first and not our own way.
Proverbs 3:6 (NKJV), “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” Ask God to align our aspirations and dreams with His desires for us. Many of us have such strong desires that we battle in opposition with God. He’s trying to give us His desires, but we’re seeking our own agenda.
.
How to Align Your Aspirations?
Be filled (crammed) with the knowledge (the precise and correct discernment) of His will (Colossians 1:9). The Holy Spirit will fill us with God’s will. Get to the place where the first thing we do is seek God’s will for our situations. This causes us to become more kingdom-minded and less earthbound.
Pray: God, I need You to fill me with the knowledge of Your will concerning my health, family, finances, relationships, career, future, etc.” – Pastor Billy R. Johnson
Walk in obedience to His will (Colossians 1:10). It does no good to have the knowledge of His will and not do His will. Some of us are so filled with fleshly aspirations that we’ve lost the ability to hear from God regarding our lives. Faith begins where the will of God is known. Be open to His will and do what He said to do.
.
Simply surrender our will to His will (Colossians 1:10). There must be a compelling desire on the inside of us to do (even when we don’t understand) His will. Every activity that God brings to our lives is motivated by His love. When our aspirations are aligned with His, our lives are rich and fulfilling. But when our aspirations are out of line with God’s will, we are hampered in our movement forward in God’s will.
“Line up – the divine alignment is happening.” – Pastor Billy R. Johnson
