The Fruit Should Be Your Witness
(Act 1:8 )
(Act 1:8 )
The Holy Spirit comes to give us the newness of life so we can live according to His will and not our will. In Acts 1:8, Jesus is telling His disciples that when this power comes (the Holy Spirit), they will become witnesses to others of what God has done in their lives.
.
Is The Fruit of Your Life Your Witness?
We received the power of the Holy Spirit as a gift from God to change our lives. This witness has to be an internal witness that gives an assurance that we are children of God. We must take this gift and put the fruit (Holy Spirit) on display to show the world that we are sold out for Jesus. As witnesses, we are to boldly tell others about our experiences with Jesus.
But be careful with this witness because it will require us to lay down our lives (be a martyr) and tell the story of who Jesus is without fear of the repercussions. Walking by the fruit is the power that God has given us to be witnesses living our lives so others can know that we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our homes should be the starting place where we begin our day with joy and gladness so that fruit can carry us throughout the day. If we start our day wrong, we can find ourselves engaged that way all day long.
“Anywhere we place our feet, we need to be bringing that fruit with us.” – Elder Michael Harris
The fruit on display must be the fruit that we live out. When we don’t display the fruit, people will have a different perspective of who we really believe in. The alternative is walking in the flesh, and fleshly desires are designed to harm us. Galatians 5:19 says that the works of the flesh are evident. We must make sure that our fleshly desires are not our witness, so the world doesn’t have any evidence against us.
Yielding to the Holy Spirit is necessary for others to see the fruit. Jesus did not give us the gift of the Holy Spirit just to perform but to bear fruit, to bring forth the yield, to bow down, and to give us direction. The return is being transformed by the display of the fruit in our lives. Our reasonable service is to offer back to God what He has already given us.
“It’s one thing to say I’m a Christian; it’s another thing to live the Christian life.” – Elder Michael Harris
God gives us every opportunity to live according to the fruit of the Spirit. The foundation of our walk must be a prayer life that seeks God and seeks to hear from the Holy Spirit so we can have the right witness to those observing our lives (I John 5:14). Our responsibility is to engage God through prayer according to His will to see what fruit he wants us to display at this season and time in our lives.
“God wants our witness to be so that the world cannot deny that it is Him and Him alone doing the work in our lives.” – Elder Michael Harri
God wants to enhance our lives, to grow us, and to build up our most holy faith that in knowing Him our witness can draw others to Him.
“God is calling for us to be fruit bearers.” – Elder Michael Harris
