Biblical wisdom is more than head knowledge. It is proved by how we live our lives. James gives a very practical side of wisdom from above and wisdom from below. Both sides of wisdom have sources, characteristics, and produce results.

How to Check Our Wisdom

Check Your Conduct (v13)

Knowledge is true, but wisdom teaches us how to live according to what is true. It is demonstrated by our conduct and a true sign that we know God accompanied by humility and meekness.

Check Your Heart (v14)

Watch for bitter jealousy and selfish ambition because these heart issues are used for personal advantage rather than serving others.

Check Your Source (v15-17)

Wisdom from below prides itself on our natural sense without asking God. Wisdom from above is morally undefiled, harmonious, compassionate, and leaves people better because of the decisions we make.

Check Your Fruit (v16-18)

Wisdom from below produces instability, confusion, unrest, and chaos, which are not of God. Wisdom from above produces righteousness and peace.
