Being a Conduit of God’s Love

A conduit is a means by which something is transmitted, a carrier.

God reaches people through love.

TO BE A CONDUIT OF GOD’S LOVE, WE MUST:

Recognize Love

It takes open eyes

Scripture teaches us about love.

1 Corinthians 13:4–8 (NIV)

⁴Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
⁵It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
⁶Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
⁷It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
⁸Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Love is patient

• Even tempered while enduring trying circumstances.

Love is kind

• Warm hearted, considerate, gentle

Love does not envy

• Not strongly jealous of another person
• Not painfully desirous of another’s advantage

Love does not boast

• Doesn’t exhibit self-importance

Love is not proud

• Not arrogant (puffed up with air)

Love does not dishonor others

• Does not act disgracefully
• Does not act in defiance of social and moral standards

Love is not self-seeking

• Reaching for something, demanding your own way

Love is not easily angered

• Become incited, stirred up in your emotions; irritable

Love keeps no record of wrongs

• Does not keep count of something to determine the sum

Love does not delight in evil

• Morally objectionable behavior
• Do not take delight in some else’s fall

Love rejoices with the truth

• Rejoice in what actually happened

Love always protects

• Endures something unpleasant or difficult

Love always trusts

• Has strong confidence or reliance upon

Love always hopes

• Confidently expectant of future events

Love always perseveres

• Continues to bear up despite difficulty

Love never fails

• Does not drop away, drive off course, or become inefficient

See the God on the inside of another person.

Christ showed His love by dying for the ungodly.

Don’t miss God’s love because it comes to you in a language you do not understand.
