Endued With Power
(Luke 24:49)
Sermon Notes
Last week, we focused on being EMPTIED OF OUR PLAN.
This week, we are positioning ourselves to be ENDUED WITH HIS POWER.
God does not empty us to leave us lacking. He empties us so He can clothe us with what only He can provide. Emptiness is preparation; power is provision.
If you are trying to take care of everything your resources are limited.

THE PROMISE OF POWER
Luke 24:49 (NKJV)
49“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
In Christ, believers have both:
- Power to act
- Authority to act in His name (the legal right to act, the permission to use that power)

THE PERSON OF POWER
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
8But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth
“This power flows from the Holy Spirit…the person of the Holy Spirit.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
John 14:16–17 (NKJV)
16And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
17the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
The Holy Spirit will influence you. This is the same power that hovered over the earth in Genesis.
THE PURPOSE OF POWER
GOD never gives POWER without PURPOSE.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BEING ENDUED WITH POWER?
To Witness
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
8But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth
A witness is one who testifies boldly and truthfully.
Peter Witnessed to Them
Acts 2:14 (NKJV)
14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.

3000 Were Saved

37Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
38Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
40And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”
41Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

To Work
The lame man was healed

6Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
7And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.
Faith In Jesus’ Name Released Power
Acts 3:16 (NKJV)
16And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

TO WALK
Galatians 5:16–18 (NKJV)
16I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
17For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Follow the Holy Spirit’s recommended course of action since you are so led by the Spirit.

Galatians 5:25 (NKJV)
25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Don’t get out of sync.
