When Your Faith Goes Blind
(Matthew 9:27)
(Matthew 9:27)
Our faith has gone blind. It didn’t start off blind, but life just happened (death, sickness, divorce, etc.). This makes it difficult to see what God promised. But don’t feel bad if you find yourself with a faith that’s gone blind. This happens when your faith is tested, when your faith is under fire, or when God delays the manifestation of what you’re waiting on.
.
.
The blind men were part of the crowd the whole time, and they’re teaching us that even when your faith goes blind, you can still follow Jesus blindly. They were still following Jesus even though he had not gotten to them yet. They did not give up on the idea that Jesus could bless them too. We need to run to God because He has a way of making sense.
.
While the blind men were following Jesus, they were also crying out to Him, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” They were worshipping Him and declaring that Jesus is the Messiah. Sometimes, God allows our faith to go blind so we can see some things that we did not see before. God has never had to use all His power because the things we think are hard are easy for God. He can do anything. Our worship starts with recognition that takes the focus off us and our problems and recognizes His majesty.
.
We can still believe God blindly. Sometimes, we put our faith in the vision instead of the God of the vision. If we put our faith in the God of the vision, even when it tarries, we will not drift away from God. We either trust God or we trust something else. That’s why it’s important to keep our trust and belief in God. Don’t put your trust in anything else but God.
When Jesus asked the blind men if they trusted Him, they answered, “Yes, Lord.” They trusted Him even though they didn’t know what He was going to do. And because they trusted Him blindly, they didn’t stop to ask for clarification before they answered, “Yes, Lord.” Is there anything God is asking of us that we’re still trying to figure out the specifics of? We’re often stuck because we’re not answering the question right. The only answer is “Yes, Lord!”
“Anytime God has a question for you, the answer is always, “Yes, Lord!”” – Pastor Kenneth Bryant
According to the Word, we only need faith the size of a mustard seed. But it’s not just having faith, it’s what we decide to put our faith in. We receive everything by faith through grace. God blesses us through the faith that we have. So even when your faith goes blind, it can still work if you put your faith in Jesus.
If you’re willing to follow God blindly, if you’re willing to worship God blindly, if you’re willing to believe God blindly, and if you’re willing to trust God blindly, God will do things in your life that you’ll have to give explanations for. You’ll have to explain because you can’t tell your story without telling who did it. He’ll bring you into a “Jesus Did It Season.”
“Praise Him blindly and follow Jesus because one day, God is going to do things that we can’t explain.” – Pastor Kenneth Bryant
