Practicing Alone Time With God
(Various Scriptures)
(Various Scriptures)
ESTABLISH A PLACE
A Specific Place
Gen. 19:27 NKJV – And Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before the Lord.
Carve out a specific place where you can be alone with God.
.
A Secluded Place
Mark 1:35 NASB – And in the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and prayed there for a time.
If Jesus had to get up and go to a secluded place, shouldn’t we?
.
A Silent Place
Mark 6:30-31 NIV – The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
.
EMBRACE THE PROCESS
The process is not for information but for transformation.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
A good devotional cannot take the place of the word of God.
.
Invitation
Ps. 119:18 NKJV – Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law.
Invite God into the process.
.
Meditation
Think on God daily.
.
Conversation
Create a dialogue with God.
What God says to you is more important. Let God have His way.
.
Application
Put what you have read and heard into practice.
“Invitation, Meditation and Conversation are pointless without Application.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
.
ENGAGE A PEN
Ex. 17:14a NIV – Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it”
Rev. 21:5 NKJV – Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
Journaling is powerful because it allows us to write down what God says in our alone time.
.
EXIT WITH POWER
Acts 4:13 – Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
Nothing is greater than spending time with the Lord.
