It Was Necessary

Luke 24:6–7 (NKJV)

⁶He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,

⁷saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”

 

Luke 24:46 (NKJV)

⁴⁶ Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

 

There are many things we want to avoid, however we would not be who we are if we had not gone through those hard places.  IT WAS NECESSARY.

The two men on the Road to Emmaus were so excited when they realized they had seen the risen Jesus that they got up at once and went to Jerusalem to tell the Eleven Disciples what they experienced.

IT WAS NECESSARY FOR CHRIST TO SUFFER AND RISE FROM THE DEAD BECAUSE:

• Scripture Must Be Fulfilled (v44–45)

God is committed to making sure that what he says happens just like he said it would.

“That’s talking about Jesus…scripture must be fulfilled.” – Pastor Billy Johnson

God has pre-ordered some things for your life because he knows they are necessary for you to become who you are meant to be.

• Sin Must Be Forgiven. – v. 46 – 47

Luke 24:46-47

⁴⁶ Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day^{, 47} and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Although sin is DESIRABLE, it is DEADLY.

So, we MUST BE FORGIVEN.

Repentance is necessary for forgiveness.

Repentance implies a complete reversal of decision.

THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS WHEN THERE IS NO REPENTANCE.

• Lost People Must Be Found (47 – 48)

Luke 24:47–48 (NKJV)

⁴⁷and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  ⁴⁸And you are witnesses of these things. .

God sends us on search and rescue missions to find lost people.  We must tell them that there is forgiveness of sins for all who repent

This message should be preached in HIS NAME.  HIS NAME is the power behind the message.

This message should be preached to ALL NATIONS.  Because God loves EVERYBODY – EVERYWHERE.  Every nation needs to hear that forgiveness is available through Jesus.
