You Gotta Be Shifting Me
(2 Corinthians 3:18)
(2 Corinthians 3:18)
Many times, challenges will take over your life and overwhelm you with its obstacles. But perhaps we are being set-up for change, and God is shifting you. God is a progressive God. Progressive, meaning God has already established things we are still discovering. Life is but a pilgrimage that God wants us to move thru, until we get to a place where God can reveal more. God is a shifting God.
II Corinthians 3:18 – But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
…with unveiled face:
When you know Jesus, you no longer must wear a veil. You can give words of prayer to the holy as well as to those who are but strangers in the street.
.
…beholding as in a mirror:
At that time, mirrors were made from obsidian black stone. Its reflections not as clear, but it was understood when looking in a mirror, you were looking at the glory of God; looking at what God has done to preserve you; His handiwork. His miracle.
.
…are being transformed:
We are being metamorphosed into the same image. Jesus is the image, or the icon of the invisible God. We are being transformed into an image – an ambassador for Christ.
.
“Transformation is the key to the glory of the new covenant.” – Pastor Kenneth Bryant.
In the old covenant, the people were simply experiencing God, but not being transformed. One may come to church and participate in the experience, but not engage with God and become transformed. “Because Jesus has removed the veil, we have the opportunity to engage and be transformed.” – Pastor Kenneth Bryant.
…moving from glory to glory:
Paul makes the distinction between a fleeting glory (the glory of man), and a lasting glory (the glory of God). There is glory where you are because Jesus is there.
.
In closing, God will shift you from the spirit. Nothing changes externally but the shift happens internally. If God is trying to shift you by His spirit, what He has is better than where you are.
