Communing With God
(Exodus 33:7-11)
(Exodus 33:7-11)
This year we are Posturing for Growth.
WHAT IS GROWTH?
(Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary)
POSTURE – a conscious mental or outward behavioral attitude
.
WHY DO WE NEED TO GROW?
.
HOW DO WE POSTURE FOR GROWTH? THREE COMPONENTS
Today we will focus on communing with God.
You and I must decide to commune with God. We can do nothing without God.
.
EXAMPLE OF PEOPLE COMMUNING WITH GOD: MOSES
Exodus 33:7–11 (NKJV)
7Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting. And it came to pass that everyone who sought the Lord went out to the tabernacle of meeting which was outside the camp.
8So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle.
9And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
10All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door.
11So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
HOW DO WE COMMUNE WITH GOD
.
Establish A Place
Exodus 33:7–8 (NKJV)
7Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting. And it came to pass that everyone who sought the Lord went out to the tabernacle of meeting which was outside the camp.
8So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle.
“Where is your unrushed, unhurried place?” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Find your place no matter where it is.
Let your children see you in your place. Plant the seed.
.
Enter That Place
Exodus 33:9 (NKJV)
9And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
“Many times, we establish the place but we avoid the place.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
You will be amazed at what God will do when you are in your place.
“You cannot manufacture Glory.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Do what God tells you to do.
Engage With God in That Place
Exodus 33:9–11 (NKJV)
9And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
10All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door.
11So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
“When God shows up in your place other people will begin to worship.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
It’s a privilege to interact with God.
.
Exit The Place (V11)
11So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
Quit compartmentalizing your life where you feel that God only comes when you’re in that place.
God is an ever-present help wherever you are.
Others are affected by what you do. (v11)
