I’m Not Arguing Anymore

There is a story about a brother who sees a beautiful sister at a homecoming.  They meet and find commonalities, begin to date, and eventually become engaged.  As they plan their wedding it is then that the arguments begin.  Until the day before the wedding it is said, Why are we agreeing to marry when we disagree about everything?

 

As it relates to God, in our relationship with God we at times go back and forth with his word and will for us.  We question what His word says about our lives.  We need to stop arguing with God.

In the scripture, Simeon was a man in relationship with God.  He was not a Bishop, an Elder, but he simply was in a relationship with God.  Simeon’s name means to harken; to listen. Simeon accepted what God said to him.  The scripture will show three ways how this faith was key:

The Power of Faith (Luke 2:25-26)

When we are first exposed to God’s word about our life and we doubt or argue about that word, we fail to access it.  Faith is the bridge. When we argue instead of coming into agreement with God, we forfeit our access.

Simeon takes what God says and turns it into a daily confession, thus unlocking the power of faith. One can use their faith to believe or not to believe.

  

The Process of Faith (Luke 2: 27)

Faith does; hope believes.

Faith is believing AND doing.  Faith must be alive.  Things that are alive grow. If your faith is not growing it may not be alive.

The Praise of Faith (Luke 2:28)

 

“God is a promise-keeping God.” – Pastor Kenneth Bryant.

 

In the scripture, Simeon is so happy he begins singing praises to God just for His presence, and the wonders of the baby.  Jesus had not here performed a miracle, but He was simply present and that alone was worthy of praise.  As the baby symbolizes small beginnings at the start, but small beginnings is not how it ends.
