Can God Trust You?
(Genesis 2:4-9, 15-17; 3:6-12)
(Genesis 2:4-9, 15-17; 3:6-12)
4 This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5 before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground. 7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. 8 The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
God has proven that he can be trusted. He is trustworthy, reliable, dependable, and faithful! The question now is can God trust you?
Genesis 2:4
4This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
7And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
8The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.
15Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
16And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
Genesis 2:16 (NIV)
16And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
Genesis 2:17 (NKJV)
17but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
God gave man the responsibility to manage His resources, i.e., man was put in the garden to tend and keep it. God knew man had the ability and capacity to manage it and do it well.
“One of the greatest honors placed on mankind was the honor of managing god’s resources – the garden.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
In Gen 3:6-12, the woman saw. This contrasts with what God said in Gen 2:17. The problem came when Adam and Eve consumed what they were called to manage. For them, everything else was not enough.
In answering the question “Can God trust you?”, the objective answer is “your stewardship is a tell-tale sign of whether God can trust you”. You need to ask these three questions:
“Don’t curse the place where you’re supposed to live.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
“Everything that comes to you is not for you.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
