The Call of God (Part 2)

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”

4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”

And he said, “Here I am.”

5 Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.”

“Your very presence is an indicator that your purpose is still necessary.” – Pastor Billy Johnson

“God is so awesome He has factored in your malfunctions.” – Pastor Billy Johnson

We Must Treat the Place That God Called Us as Holy – (vs. 5)

      Do not draw near / take off your shoes

• It must be set apart / distinct / different in our hearts – why because that it is that place where He came to us with Divine insight for our lives.

Set apart those dealings when God talks to you.  Don’t be dismissive of it.

 

 

It Is During the Calling Process That God Reveals Himself – (vs. 6)

I am the God of your father

• Isaiah 6 – Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up…

“God can take an unclean vessel and clean it and use it for His Glory.” – Pastor Billy Johnson

God Calls A Leader Because He Hears the Cry Of a People – (vs. 7-10)

• I heard them and I will send you (vs. 10)
• God does not call the leader for the sake of the leader

“God is not calling you just because you are cute.” – Pastor Billy Johnson

 

God equips people.  You are one of them!

The Call of God Guarantees That God Will Do His Part – (vs. 8)

I have come down to deliver

• God factors Himself in your assignment
• We get in trouble when we try to get God to do what He never said He would do.
• God knows exactly what needs to be done.

“God already knew everything about Moses’ life, and He still called him.” – Pastor Billy Johnson

God’s Presence With You Authenticates His Call Of You – (vs. 12)

I will certainly be with you

• 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 – “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

You have it in you to share the gospel and bring someone out of darkness.

 

Your Following God’s Call Grants Favor Upon the People – (vs. 21)

And I will give this people favor

There is favor that rests upon you and the people around you as you do what God says.

Supernatural Equipment Comes With the Call – (4:1-5)

What is that in your hand, a rod

“God will take your ordinary and make it extraordinary.” – Pastor Billy Johnson

Obey God with what is in your hand right now!

Your Perceived Inability Does Not Disqualify You From God’s Call – (4:10-12)

I am not eloquent

God will grant His strength in your weaknesses.

Just let God use you!
