Regard the Way God Speaks
(II Timothy 3:16; Acts 13:1-2; Proverbs 11:14; Proverbs 1:20-21)
(II Timothy 3:16; Acts 13:1-2; Proverbs 11:14; Proverbs 1:20-21)
II Timothy 3:16 – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Reproof – Conviction of a sinner, punishment, and refuting error.
Scripture is also great for correction.
Ephesians 6:4b – but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Hebrews 12:7b – For what son is there that a father does not chasten.
“It is God’s will that we walk according to the family standard.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
Acts 13:1-2 – Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.
Between chapters 2 and 3 of Revelations, seven times throughout scripture you see this saying, “He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying (says) to the church.”
Proverbs 11:14 – Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety
Proverbs 15:22 – Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.
When we think of counsel, we might think only of counsel for decisions that need to be made. But we also need counsel for our life. God has placed counselors all around us that God uses, but many times we won’t make use of them.
“We don’t want to be made whole, we want attention.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
Proverbs 1:20-21 – Wisdom calls aloud outside; she raises her voice in the open squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, at the openings of the gates in the city she speaks her words…
