Level Up
(2 Peter 1:2-9)
(2 Peter 1:2-9)
What does it mean to level-up or grow in your relationship with Christ?
The Three A’s:
Giving your all means to bring great zeal or effort, and/or consciously apply yourself to accomplish a goal.
God’s gifts and promises should stimulate an earnest effort.
2 Peter 1:5 (NKJV) – But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
God has built in us the ability to will and to do.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) – And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
It is our responsibility to act out our faith.
James 2:26 – For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
To continuously supply, aid, or contribute.
God’s blessings and promises make spiritual living possible.
2 Peter 1:3-4 (NKJV) as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
The expectation is to continuously do the work.
Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Because we are saved, our sins do not prevent us from adding.
Col 2:13-14 (NKJV) – And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
In 2 Peter 1:5, we see that faith is the foundation for everything else to be added. But the question arises, “What is faith?”
Faith is the confidence that with God nothing is impossible.
Matthew 17:20 – So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
Salvation through faith makes it possible to please God.
Ephesians 2:8 – For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Increasing creates fuller knowledge in Christ.
2 Peter 1:8 (NKJV) – For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It’s not enough to have them in us, but we must grow or increase in the grace’s listed in 2 Peter 1:5-7
