Fully Surrendered to God
(Luke 9:21-25)
(Luke 9:21-25)
“What would your life look like fully surrendered to God?
“Do you believe that your life will be better if it’s fully surrendered to God?”
“Do you believe that you’ll be fulfilled and happy fully surrendered to God?”
Pastor Billy Johnson
Jesus didn’t die for you to be happy; He doesn’t want you to be fulfilled and full of hatred. A fully surrendered life is worth the investment and by far the best life. Surrendered means yield to the power and control of another; to give one’s self up to another. Paul called himself a bondservant—Jesus’ slave.
Luke 9:23 “Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me”.
How do we get there:
What are you desiring? You have to desire to go after God. As a believer, sometime we have the ability to ignore the prompting. Jesus said “I need you to desire Me”.
“That—that you hunger for—you’ll be filled with”—Pastor Billy Johnson
Denying yourself is not the same as self-denial. Denying to Christ is surrendering completely to God. Surrendering is denying yourself to respond in this situation—as you would normally respond. You do not have the right to do what you want to do, separate from Jesus.
The dying producing the life. It’s not reduced to a bunch of rules—it’s a relationship. It’s not just a one time thing but it’s a daily submission.
“Everyday there is a dying!”—Pastor Billy Johnson
Jesus doesn’t want you to follow Him as long as it’s convenient. He doesn’t just need you in the convenient places but He needs you in the uncomfortable places too. He’s asking for a fully surrendered life.
