Small Groups

Chapter two of the book of Acts provides a brief glimpse of what life was like in the early church. The community was characterized by devotion to both the proclaimed word and the fellowship of believers. The early church found a way to connect, fellowship, and grow together.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. – Acts 2:42-47 NIV

A small group is a group of 10-12 people who meet to study, share and encourage one another. The purpose of small groups is to connect, fellowship, and grow.

Small groups fulfill the vision of the New Covenant to see a discipleship process that facilitates thousands of people experiencing small group relationships. They exist to help each member to form relationships for accountability, community, encouragement, and spiritual growth.

Most groups meet for 12 weeks, depending on the purpose of the group. However, curriculum and interest are the deciding factors. Many groups may choose to meet for a season, while others may meet for a more permanent time.

Yes, you may register for the group of your choice during each series. We have found, however, that groups develop lasting relationships when they journey together.

Everyone is invited, both believers and unbelievers. Invite your spouse, friend, co-worker, or neighbor.

Small groups are in session annually from February to April, June to August, and October to December. Most small groups meet Sunday through Thursday. Some groups meet in the homes of members throughout the metro-Atlanta area and are considered to be off-site groups. Some groups meet on the church campuses in either the East or West locations. These groups are considered to be on-site groups.

The curriculum of each group differs, based on the group’s make-up and the facilitator’s experience.

The membership of each small group varies. A group’s make-up can be by:

  • Life Stage – singles, young adults, couples, empty-nesters, etc.
  • Gender – men, women
  • Geography – city or zip code
  • Interest – curriculum topic, life issues
