Don’t Worry. Pray
(Philippians 4:6-7)
(Philippians 4:6-7)
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Consider Paul, who trusted God even when he was imprisoned.
“What does this prisoner have to say to us?” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Philippians 4:6 says in EVERY situation, pray!
Supplication means to plead; beg; ask for with a sense of urgency. In the natural it is much the same as escalating a situation.
“I cannot manipulate God.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
We must find out what it is that God wants. All requests (prayers) must align with God’s will.
1John 5 says that God hears us, but we need to pray targeted prayers; be specific.
“So my job then, is to find out what He has willed and bring my want in alignment with his will.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
When coupling your prayer with thanksgiving your attitude and speech will come in alignment with God’s will.
When you are worrying you will not have peace when you finish praying. When praying make peace your goal in prayer not the desired outcome.
“If you don’t have peace, then you’re not through praying.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
