The Blessing of Being in Christ
(Ephesians1:3-14
1 Corinthians 1:26-29)
(Ephesians1:3-14
1 Corinthians 1:26-29)
How do you decide the best means of getting something important to someone you love?
God looked at all our needs and what He designed us to be and made provisions for that in Christ.
The Trinity involved in the blessing:
“God sees your potential when the world doesn’t see it.” – Pastor Billy R. Johnson
According to scripture (Ephesians 1:3-4), the Father chose us, making a special choice based on significant preferences. He chose us even before the foundation of the world. He chose us to be holy, blameless, consecrated and dedicated to God.
According to scripture (Ephesians 1:5), the Father adopted us, brought us into the family, and even paid the penalty for our sins. This made us clearly aware of the strong love God has for us. In Ephesians 1:6 the scripture speaks of the acceptance of God. The word acceptance meaning highly favored. Thus, according to scripture, we have been selected, adopted, and accepted.
(Ephesians 1:7-9) He has redeemed us. Sin held us, but Jesus Christ came and paid the penalty for our sins, redeeming us through His blood.
“Without the blood sacrifice, sin could not be forgiven.” – Pastor Billy R. Johnson
Through the sacrifice He has also revealed the will of God. He has made known to us the mystery of the His will. His will being that we shall all be brought under the authority of God.
A seal is something that was stamped with a private mark to protect from misappropriation or tampering. In other words, God has put a sign on us to signify that we are protected. The Holy Spirit is the seal to hold and protect us.
“Every believer in Jesus Christ has been given the seal of the Holy Spirit.” – Pastor Billy R. Johnson
Therefore, the Holy Spirit resides in you. We receive the seal after hearing the word of truth. Not only do we hear it, but we go beyond to understand it and obey the word. Faith comes by hearing, so we believe the word, pay attention to the word, understand the word, and obey the word. The seal then guarantees our inheritance, according to the scripture of Ephesians 1:14
In closing, the Son became a sacrifice for us, with the Holy Spirit giving the seal of protection, as the Father has selected us for the blessings of the Lord. All these things are included in the package of being in Christ.
