Family Matters 8 – Fight For Your Family
(Nehemiah 4:13-14)
(Nehemiah 4:13-14)
13Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the opening; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows. 14And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
In Nehemiah there was a national problem, but God gave them a family directive. The entire nation had been exiled.
Predicament: In Chapter 1 of Nehemiah those who remained after the exile were in distress and their protection is gone.
God also showed how Nehemiah processed the situation.
Nehemiah 1:4 starts with giving yourself permission to sit down, weep and mourn. After that he fasted and prayed (sat down and talked to God.)
“Anytime you start doing anything for God, the enemy will show up.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
“What would happen if every family would begin to fight for one another?” – Pastor Billy Johnson
God’s plan will always override the plot of the enemy. He is above anything that could be against you.
God’s plan to a national problem was the family.
Some family issues will need to be repaired, some will need to be restored and some will need to be totally rebuilt.
