Be a Doer of the Word
(Matthew 7:24-27)
(Matthew 7:24-27)
Can gauge ourselves as believers by what we hear ourselves saying:
I Feel – generally speaking out of the voice of emotion
I Think – generally speaking out of the voice of reason
I Will – generally speaking out of the voice of volition or will
“Anytime God wants to bring about a change in our lives, he’s going to do that through His Word.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
Both men built a house; the difference was the surface they built on. Both men had the same access to the Word (see verses 25 and 27) however they made different decisions and therefore had different outcomes.
“Doing the Word is the difference maker in your life.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Remove moral uncleanness and evil
Also we have to lay them aside (Hebrews 12:1)
Hearing is not receiving. Instead we have to accept the word with humility. It is all about receiving it and letting it do what it need to do in us.
If we don’t get the bad things out then the soil becomes contaminated.
“What makes poor soil is the lack of humility.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
If we hear only, we are deceiving ourselves (to reason falsely). The Word demands a response by action.
“Many times we confuse listening with actually, really hearing.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
“Just because you’re quiet doesn’t mean you’re hearing.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
God is asking, “Do you HEAR me?”
If we actually HEAR we would DO.
Do the Word!
