Get Wisdom
(Proverbs 4:2-12)
(Proverbs 4:2-12)
2 For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law. 3 When I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother, 4 He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live. 5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. 8 Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. 9 She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” 10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. 11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. 12 When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble.
Chapter four of Proverbs (the book of wisdom) provides the instructions of a father to a child; it gives insight for daily and practical living.
During this time, you will need to make decisions that affect the quality of your life. Whatever decisions you need to make or the course you need to take—Get Wisdom. Wisdom is the knowledge and the ability to make the right choices at the opportune time. Get wisdom so you can make the right decision at the right time.
What are you going to do regarding your finances, children, or business? Wisdom will aid you in making the right decision. It’s the principle thing.
Wisdom will cause you to be kept.
Wisdom will watch over you and guard you.
Wisdom will cause you to be exalted.
Wisdom will bring honor to your head.
God wants to promote you during this time. He wants to do more than what you have dreamed. Now is the time to examine what’s in your heart, head, and hands; look at things with fresh eyes.
“God can use what’s going right now to promote you.” – Pastor Billy R. Johnson
Listen with the intent to obey.
Don’t listen and think that these are optional instructions.
Wisdom can come in the voice of a doctor, official or commonsense.
The voice of wisdom is calling out from the same place of foolishness.
Proverbs 1:28-33
28“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, 30 They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. 31 Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies. 32 For the [a]turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them; 33 But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be [b]secure, without fear of evil.”
We cannot afford to live a life based on emotions because feelings change daily. Hear and heed wisdom.
The question to ask in making decisions:
Is it wise?
Proverbs 4:5-7 MSG
5 Sell everything and buy Wisdom! Forage for Understanding! Don’t forget one word! Don’t deviate an inch! 6 Never walk away from Wisdom – she guards your life; love her – she keeps her eye on you. 7 Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list: Get Understanding!
