(Proverbs 3:5)
(Proverbs 3:5)
Sometimes we lose the meaning of a word because it has become so familiar. In Proverbs 3:5 the word trust means to depend on, to rely on, to have confidence in. Throw the entirety of yourself onto God without reservation.
“God created this world and He knows where the answers are.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Mathew 6:8 (NKJV) – Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
The word KNOWS literally means to perceive, possess information, and have full knowledge of. God knows all that we need, well in advance, and because of this, we can trust Him.
God WILL take care of you.
Proverbs 3:6 (NKJV) – In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Acknowledge means to have an intimate relationship with Him.
The Holy Spirit living inside of you will guide you. Trust in the guidance of God. Spend time with Him so you can be in tune with what God wants from you. Rely on the leading and prompting of the Lord.
DIRECT means to make straight. It also means God will move the obstacles, making a smooth path or way.
“He’ll direct your steps, your stops and your stays.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Ephesians 5:17 – Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Understand God’s will for your life. Again, meaning that you have to spend time with Him. God knows how to lead us around pitfalls. Sometimes we have to not look at if something is right or wrong but if it is wise. Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
When you know what God wants in a situation, it brings about confidence and boldness.
“The will of God is knowable, understandable, and doable.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) – There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
“We can’t afford to just live on what SEEMS right.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
We must understand His will and surrender to His way. You may not understand why you are doing a particular thing but do it because you sense that God is telling you to do it. Err on the side of obedience.
Philippians 4:6 (NKJV) – Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
The issue with trust is that we are not in control. We put the full weight of ourselves completely in God’s hands, trusting that He can handle it. You can tell God what is bothering you. You have the privilege of being able to come to the Father.
Proverbs 3:6 (MSG) – Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.
