What Is Salvation?

Salvation is a gift offered to all humanity and is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It begins with our acceptance of Jesus’ death on the cross as payment for our sins. This new birth experience is a work of God’s grace and unmerited favor that cannot be earned, bought, or for which we cannot serve. When one is saved, or born again, there is a change that takes place in the heart. True repentance, genuine faith, and dependence upon Jesus Christ for salvation bring about regeneration. Our hearts are changed by faith, and we are made new. (Eph. 2:8; Rom. 6:23; 2 Cor. 5:17, 21)
