How To Hear The Voice of God (Wednesday Night)
(John 10:27)
(John 10:27)
Memory Verse
John 10:27 (NKJV) – My sheep hear My voice. I know them and they follow Me.
“Don’t use anyone else as the measuring stick for hearing God.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Jesus referred us as His sheep.
My relationship with God is
Psalms 48:8 – As we have heard so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts..
“What you hear influences what you see.”- Pastor Billy Johnson
Question: What are you listening for?
One of the things you never want to do is have a pretentious relationship with God. Be able to talk to Him about anything.
Psalms 23 is a beautiful shepherd-sheep depiction
One of the characteristic of being a good sheep is letting the Lord know you.
Matthew 7:21-23 – “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
“They built their whole relationship on performance.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
One of the scariest things is that Your gifts will keep working in the midst of your sin.
God wants to know the real you. The question is well you let Him?
Philippians 3:10 – I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death
To follow means to come behind; to be in the same way.
John 10:4 – When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
Before the canonization of Scripture, they simply had the Holy Spirit, and had to follow His voice. So we need to tune your heart to hear Him. In order to tune in you’ve got to quiet down.
“Following is an indication that I’ve heard. If I’m not following, then I’ve not heard.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
