Seeing Jesus Through the Eyes of the Shepherds
(Luke 2:8-18)
(Luke 2:8-18)
The Birth of Christ was Personal
When the Shepherds encountered the Angel, they were given very specific, personal news:
“Many times, the gifts God has for us come in a way we didn’t expect.” – Dr. D’Ann Johnson
Christ’s Birth Will Bring Peace
In verses 13 and 14 we see the heavenly host proclaiming, “…peace on earth.” Peace on Earth means to set at one again. In other words, Christ will bring peace, or right-relationship with God again.
Christ Is Worth Pursuing
The Shepherds, after hearing of the news, decided to go to Bethlehem and see the Savior. In the same way, we must pursue our Savior. The issue is that we become complacent with God. Do we run in haste when God speaks a thing, or do we take a long stroll?
“Pursuit is the evidence of desire.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
Christ Must Be Publicized
After the Shepherds saw Christ, they made widely known what they had heard and seen. The same for us! We are to go and tell of Christ, especially during this Christmas season. Don’t let the world remove Christ from Christmas.
