The Ministry of the Holy Spirit (Week 2)
(John 16:8-11)
(John 16:8-11)
John 16:8-11 – And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
Convict – to expose to facts.
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of
“If there is no conviction, there is no convincing.” – Pastor Billy Johnson
The only way we receive righteousness is by receiving Jesus. He did what we could not do. Jesus takes our sins and gifts us righteousness. Satan has already been sentenced.
1 Corinthians 2:12-14 – Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand.
We often hear people say that they cannot understand the Bible. The truth is, somethings won’t make sense without the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes spiritual things understandable. The Holy Spirit opens our eyes.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
“There are some things that God has prepared for you that you don’t know about”-Pastor Billy Johnson
Romans 8:14-16 – For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
The Spirit of God is enabling us to call God, “Father”. Additionally, the Spirit testifies on the inside of us that we are His.
We are God’s by Creation, Redemption, Adoption and Birth.
Ephesians 1:13 – In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit
When we came to Christ, we first had to hear the Word of God. When Faith comes, we had to put our trust in Jesus Christ to rescue us from our Sin. As soon as we received Christ, we immediately were sealed. This seal cannot be removed by the Devil or ourselves; and God will not remove it. This seal is not the wax of old, but the Holy Spirit!
When you look at the seal—it’s stamp with a signet. When you accept Jesus, God stamped you with His signet ring.
The Seal Represents
The seal is a certification of genuineness.
