You Are Worth It
(Psalms 23)
(Psalms 23)
There was a crazy general who sailed in a ship with his army to fight on foreign soil. He noticed his soldiers were weary and not in best fighting condition. The crazy general told his soldiers to burn the ships. Why? Because when you win this battle, you can take their ships.
Here are 3 important points we can take from this story.
You should always stay true to who you are, even when you are being labelled something else.
Oftentimes, when your standards are higher than others, you will be called a name. Even Jesus was called names. In Luke 23:1-5, Jesus was accused of being misleading, a deceiver, and not being worthy of being called Christ the king, but oh, aren’t we blessed that the labels did not stop Him from His mission
If you notice in the story, the leader of the men was a General. You don’t become a general without having some knowledge or experience; therefore, you must surround yourself with counsel that is on your level or higher.
Also, be mindful that all counsel is not good counsel. Pray daily for the power of discernment, for vision, and for a daily renewal of your spirit that invites the Lord in every day. By doing this, people can see the transformation that is taking place.
Lastly, understand that there will be some trials and tribulations that you will face. Notice, the general created a sticky situation for the soldiers to overcome by burning the boats and leaving them with no way to get back home. However, his confidence in them did not waiver. Think about this way – I will fear no evil for thou art with me.
What you need to understand, in the words of Rev. Arthur Jackson, is that “even though he prepares a table before you, it ain’t your table.” You must understand that the table doesn’t belong to you, and that the One who owns it can invite who ever, whenever and wherever He wants. The difference is that out of all the enemies sitting at the table with you, He anoints your head with oil, signifying that you are worth everything He has to give. And notice that it is so much that your cup can’t hold it all.
That’s why you have to keep your standards high. God has blessed us all by anointing our heads in the presence of others who have not fully found him yet, but will be able to see in you and through your works that He is great and greatly to be praised; therefore, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever!!
