Time is moving quickly. Our culture is changing. Times are changing. But the one thing that does not change is our God. Our responsibility is to trust in Him and endure.
How do we build up our endurance?
1) Be Mindful of the Deceiver (vs 5-6)
Just as in a magic show, don’t be deceived by the sleight-of-hand performed by this world to deny the truth and live in a way contrary to the Word of God.
“Did I leave what’s true to follow a lie.” – Elder Michael Harris
2) Be on Guard (vs 9)
We must constantly watch and pay attention to what is going on around us, and be aware of the tricks of the enemy. That is not to say that we should be completely consumed with the cares of this world, just alert and watchful.
3) Be a Witness (vs 9b-11)
All that we do, we do for Christ’s namesake. We must walk in a Christ-like manner. And when we bear witness, know that our knowledge and wisdom will not be enough. We have to rely on the Holy Spirit.
“Are we willing to endure persecution to follow Jesus.” – Elder Michael Harris
